"I was born on February 29, 1976 in Skokie, Illinois. Soon after I decided that I wanted to live in space someday. In the 23 years of my life I have lived in every time zone in America. After graduating with my Bachelor’s in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan, I am pursuing my Master’s at the University of Colorado. Mars is my main interest and the field I am doing my research in. In my spare time I make use of my pilot’s license and engage in as much life threatening physical activity as I can squeeze in. I will consider doing any activity that causes my Mom to pray for my safety. I also enjoy traveling and have backpacked all over Europe and have traveled around India as well. I am also politically active within the South Asian student community and would like to serve in some high position in the US government after my long career as an astronaut has ended. I believe the NASA Academy will be a great experience, and am ready for the challenge."
